Our horsemanship-based riding lesson program helps students build confidence, riding skills, responsibility, patience, discipline, and meaningful partnerships with horses.
We believe strong horsemanship creates safer, more knowledgeable, and more capable riders for the long term.
FCRA lessons place a strong emphasis on safety first, with helmets required and the best-behaved horses provided. Just as important, we want our students to learn and have fun!
Riding lessons teach:

Our programs are designed to produce balanced, secure, and effective riders that are in harmony with the horses they ride. We use the HorseSense Learning Level curriculum to advance our students’ riding skills as well as their equine knowledge. Take a deeper look into the levels as you scroll down.
All lesson programs run year-round. We do not hold lessons the week of Spring Break, first week of school (following KISD calendar), Thanksgiving, or Christmas.

Full Circle Riding Academy is proud to join 1200+ riding facilities in using the HorseSense Learning Level curriculum. This all-around horsemanship program is exactly what Full Circle aims to do: create dedicated equestrians that know as much about the horse under them as they know how to ride it.
Students will start out at Rainbow Level (level one) then advance through Red Level, Yellow Level, Green Level, and so on. Here’s a sample of some of the objectives they must master to move up:
Rainbow Level- focuses on becoming independent around horses
Groom a horse
Mount a horse
Maintain a balanced position during “go” and “woah”
Describe the cool down process
Identify 10 parts of a horse
Muck out a stall
Red Level- focuses on developing safety procedures for “what ifs"
Mount/dismount independently, including a leg up maneuver
Perform a pully rein, one-rein stop, and emergency dismount
Change direction using a half-turn, half-turn reverse, or change of direction across the diagonal
Determine feed regime for horses based on weight and identify good and bad hay
Perform a quick release knot
Correctly adjust stirrups, girth, and reins
Yellow Level- master the trot through many patterns
Trot a large circle, serpentine, and figure-8
Maintain consistent posting rhythm
Drop stirrups and pick them back up at a trot, trot without stirrups
Build, clean, and condition a bridle
Know healthy TPR range for horses
Know signs of colic and basic equine first aid

Lessons will focus on both rail work and playday events, with a strong emphasis on developing core skills such as balance, proper hand and seat position, and developing a sound western seat. We believe in developing western riders with a strong horsemanship base and providing them an opportunity to experience multiple western disciplines, such as: barrel racing, playday events, trail and obstacle courses, and horsemanship patterns.
